What is an Infrared Sauna?
An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses light to create heat. This type of sauna is sometimes called a Far-Infrared Sauna — “far” describes where the infrared waves fall on the light spectrum. A traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air, which in turn warms your body.
How does an Infrared Sauna work?
Infrared heaters warm the body in the same manner as natural sunlight. Infrared heat therapy uses the wavelength of the visible and non-visible light spectrum of sunlight that heats the body normally. Traditional saunas raise the temperature of the air to a very high level within the chamber to warm the body.
What does an Infrared Sauna do for you?
Infrared saunas are a type of sauna that uses heat and light to help relax and detoxify the body. Also called far–infrared saunas or near-infrared saunas, these omit infrared light waves that create heat in the body, causing you to sweat and release stored “toxins.”
Is Infrared Sauna good for you?
A traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air, which in turn warms your body. An infrared sauna heats your body directly without warming the air around you. The appeal of saunas in general is that they cause reactions, such as vigorous sweating and increased heart rate, similar to those elicited by moderate exercise.
How many calories do you burn in an Infrared Sauna?
Far Infrared Saunas are a healthy weight loss solution without exercising. Infrared Saunas burn 400-600 calories in just one 30-minute session. In a Far Infrared Sauna, a moderately fit person can sweat one pound of sweat in a 30-minute session; the equivalent of running 2-3 miles.
How many times a week should you use an Infrared Sauna?
Continue prescribed medication while taking saunas unless directed otherwise. You may use a sauna just twice a week or as often as twice a day. However, start with no more than one session daily for no longer than 20 minutes. If you are very debilitated, begin with once a week.
Are saunas good for your health?
Since the blood vessels relax and dilate in a sauna, blood flow increases and the experience can help reduce tension in the joints and relieve sore muscles. Saunas might also help those with chronic pain and arthritis.
How hot is an Infrared Sauna?
Average pre heating time is 30-45 mins, while a 4-person corner unit could take a little bit longer than a 2-person sauna. The ideal temperature for an infrared sauna is between 110°F to 130°F. Remember, temperature is not important; the fact that you are receiving infrared heat is what matters.

I live and work in the neighborhood and have been wanting to try this place since they opened, so I made an appointment for my daughter and I to get eyelash extensions and our experience was truly amazing. I ended up getting a massage as well because the place is simply amazing. My masseuse was Nicole and she gave me the best massage I’ve had in years. I highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to relax in a nice, clean, friendly and extremely professional environment."

I can honestly say my experience at Yihan Spa was wonderful. I found it on Groupon but before booking my appointment I read as much reviews as possible. There were actually more good reviews than bad which is what helped me with my decision. When I entered into Yihan I was very impressed. The ambiance was really beautiful and the staffs were very friendly. My masseuse name was Jean and she was very sweet. I had a Swedish massage and she was not rough as some of the masseuse I have had in the past at other spas. I will definitely be going back to Yihan."

Wow what a hidden gem. If you don’t know what to look for you can easily miss this spot, but don’t let that happen!! Once you walk in you are literally transformed into an Asian oasis. Despite being on the second floor on the busy streets of midtown east, you would never know that once you are in here. The place is decorated beautifully. Bamboo tree accents, hot tea, beautiful tree wood chairs, and just gorgeous decor. Most importantly, it’s clean, professional and private. I got a same day appointment for facial and massage. It happened to be Spa week so it was extremely inexpensive. $99 for both!! I was a bit skeptic at first not knowing the spot or anyone who has been there, but there was no need for that. My facial was amazing. I got extractions done and although that’s somewhat painful I have no marks or terrible redness on my face. They make sure to massage your face and apply non fragrant organic lotion, which I prefer. Next I did the 1 hour massage. They make sure to show you the one hour so, you know you aren’t being cut short. Holy hell this was one of the best massages ever! I asked for deep tissue medium strength and it was perfect. My masseuse pretzeled me in the end with my arms and legs and it was fantastic! I’ve been to tons of places in the city including Bliss and Soho House and other top notch places in the city. This by far was the best massage and facial for the price. You get exactly what you want. A good deep tissue and a cleansing facial. I hate those other spots that try and up-sell you and talk to you while you’re getting treatments done. No more over priced spots. Yihan Spa is my new go-too!!!"
